For the rest of the week*, I want you to think green and share your ideas about INVITATIONS and THANK YOU NOTES. Do you think there are greener ways to do them? Do some go overboard with paper, or maybe you don't see why invitations and thank you notes could be wasteful. Let's see if we can think of more eco friendly ways to do this.
*The week ends on Shabbat, but please still post after that!

Sadie – Kol hakavod, all the honor to you! I’m a colleague and friend of Rabbi Jen’s, who happens to represent the Reconstructionist movement to the Coalition on the Environment and Jewish Life (www.coejl.org; I was also once a scholar-in-residence at your synagogue) – and I’m so impressed with what you’ve done here! / / / You and your readers should also know about the great resource assembled by the DC-area Jews United for Justice called “A Green and Just Guide to Jewish Celebrations” – free PDF download is at <<< http://www.jufj.org/green_just_celebrations >>> -- it’s full of useful ideas for low-impact simchas. But you’ve taken it to a whole new level, and your dedication and approaches should be widely studied and emulated. / / / Keep up the great work, and know that you’re truly becoming a ‘daughter of commandment’ with special focus on the mitzvah of ‘bal tashchit - do not waste.’… mazal tov, and enjoy this Saturday, and I look forward to hearing what great things you keep on doing! L’shalom, (-- Rabbi Fred Scherlinder Dobb, Adat Shalom Reconstructionist Congregation, Bethesda MD)
ReplyDeleteHi Sadie!
ReplyDeleteWe are so impressed with this blog, and your bat mitzvah was extraordinary! We were thrilled to watch you on Saturday; your dvar torah was especially wonderful and inspiring. All of your efforts led to a truly beautiful green event.
So tell us, what is your favorite green charity? We have a few of our own, but I wonder what appeals most to you as a 13-year old...
Congratulations, Sadie!!!
