The number one thing people can do for the planet is to go vegetarian, since producing meat is the worst consumer of energy and land use. But unfortunately, it is a hard addiction for a lot of people to kick (but once they do they usually do NOT miss it at all)! (I've always wondered if Al Gore eats meat? Does anyone know?) Audie
ReplyDeleteMy pet peeve about parties is the wrapping paper that gets wasted on gifts. What if you encouraged people to give virtual gifts like online gift cards or donations to your favorite charity through their web site. You are certainly The Green Queen. You are setting such a wonderful example for your cousins to follow. -Uncle Nathan
ReplyDeleteI agree with Nate!
ReplyDeleteUsing online gifts is very eco-friendly, but if you still wanted to give a non-virtual gift, you could just not wrap it or you could put it a peice of clothing!

I agree with the green queen and Uncle Nathan! Here is an idea I've been using for years. I wrap gifts in news paper. If you can find colored comics its a lot of fun, but even black and white is fine. If that is too messy (news print smearing off), try a used brown grocery bag, and its the perfect canvas to write something on! Though hopefully we use canvan bags for our groceries.

This is the coolest thing I've seen in years. Leave it to a Bearman. Mazel Tov, Sadie to you and your entire family. I am past this stage after having 3 Bat Mitzvah's but will pass it on to many upcoming family friends events. You GO GIRL!!!
